| I've lived here for about a month now, and I have no major complaints about the apartment. The apartment building, however, is an entirely different story.
For those of you who've been lucky enough to experience the halls of this building, you know, that the owner of our building has very unique taste, and sometimes lacks good judgement. The hallways throughout the building are textured stucco, not great, but not horrible. Downstairs, there is molding (made of styrofoam, interestingly enough) that cuts the wall in half, the bottom portion being a Cheery Yellow, and the top, white. Not so bad. The doors however, make it interesting. The owner for some reason thought that it would be a good idea to paint the doors, and trim, Silver. yes, SILVER. Love that Metallicy Goodness. This lovely choice in paint color is accented well by The Most Disgusting Old Industrial Carpet You Will Ever See, complete with nasty nasty stains, some of which were left there by our lovely neighbors when they didn't quite make it to the toilet on time, after a long night of boozing. Upstars the walls are just plain white, no molding, and no silver doors. The carpet's the same, but in my little hallway, we're lucky not to have many stains. There is one random wall at the bottom of the back stairwell that is painted dark blue. For what reason? We may never know.
Luckily, the lovely interior of our apartment (complete with fresh -
tasteful - paint and carpet) makes up for the nasty hallways.
Yesterday, I noticed a small patch of Sea Green paint on the end wall in the stairwell, on my floor. There was still a paint brush covered in this paint laying nearby in a rollar tray (which oddly, didn't have any paint in it) and I naturally assumed that someone would be back to finish the job. Later in the day, I walked through the stairwell again, to see that someone had indeed been back... but they had only painted most of the wall before cleaning up and going home for the day. Come on, Mr. Mysterious Painter Man, the wall is not that big. A normal person could finish that within and hour or two. But not here, no siree. This is the building where projects drag on for days, which is why we're still missing the knob on our silverware drawer.
So today when Audrey came home from work she goes, um, I think its pretty obvious that they're trying to pick a color. I'm tempted to have you go see it. Without a word I stepped into the hallway, slippers and all, to see what damage had been done. Now, overtop of the Sea Green, are a few strokes of Forest Green. I guess they're having a difficult time chosing between the Mountains or the Ocean. The painting supplies were all still there, so I assumed that Mr. Mysterious Painter Man would be back to finish later. But I was wrong. I later went downstairs to put in some laundry, and found that Mr. Mysterious Painter Man had left the wall incomplete, again. And that as he made his getaway with all his paintint supplies, he got a little sloppy, hitting his still painty roller on the ceiling first, leaving a big Forest Green blob, and next on the step, and finally on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. I guess he was in a hurry. That or he just doesn't care. Either way, does this mean we can get new carpet? PLEASE?

| i'm moving to chicago! i'll be living with the one and only audrey, and i'm super stoked.i don't have a job yet so technically i could still back out, out of sheer terror - moving to a new city without a job lined up is pretty terrifying. but i'm making plans and arrangements and all that good stuff that goes into moving. finding a new bank, new car insurance, new health insurance, and researching much much more. although i haven't put any money into it yet so i'm not financially invested at this point. maybe i should shell out some money so that i feel like there's no backing out. the plan is to move out there before my cousins wedding on october seven. finally... we shall be together again.
